June Wrap Up

Out of school and onto the trails!

Love my little hiking buddy.

Mellow Father's Day, just getting in a little putting practice.
End of Camp Skylandia with Noah and Kenzo receiving the "Best Friends" awards!
Before....
...after!

Ready for summer now!
Met up with the Hagglof's one afternoon.

Kjell gave Kenzo a lesson on skateboarding!
Little buddies.
Hanging at Meeks Bay for my birthday.
Great view, great company.
Birthday dinner out that included Chris!
The next day, Kenzo and I were off to Portland!

Someone was pretty excited!
Lunch at the Hillsboro Pharmacy - an old school soda fountain & a favorite stop when we're in town.

Dad is recovering on track from his heart surgery, but it hasn't been easy or smooth.

And it wouldn't be summer without our daily frozen treat.

Momo's Shave Ice - totally worth the airfare to Oregon.

This, by the way, is the CHILD sized serving!

And that's a wrap!

A fun field trip to the Discovery Museum in Reno last week!

The exhibit on River Monsters was a big hit!

Oskar, Micah, Josy, Kenzo, Mateo & Ella.

Paisley, Ella & Kenzo.
"Camping" in the Nevada desert.

The last T-ball game of the season - it was fun and cute and I'm glad it's over!

A season wrap-up pizza party at the beach with the Giants too!

Good thing Kate brought her "real" camera and captured some beautiful images of the kids!

After school bike ride to get gelato...

...lucky kids!

We only just realized that classmate Tallulah lives right around the corner from us!

And that she's moving to Arizona at the end of June - dang!

Wednesday was the Silly Song Performance by the school - super cute!

TK and K classes performing together.

The performance was followed by Family Picnic Day on the upper field. It was a bit cold and windy, but we all had a fun time.

The faces of ramen.

The last day of school!

Discovery Day at Tahoe Lake Elementary, or as normal people put it: a carnival! Bounce houses, face painting, snow cones - lots of wired kids!

And the fire department comes to hose down all the kids, although it was cold and windy, so they didn't totally douse everyone.

Bartek, Colton & Kenzo saying "goodbye" to a great year of TK!

And then, because these are some seriously spoiled children, we went out for ice cream.

Last day of school, carnival, playing with friends, swim lessons....this kid went to town on his cheeseburger!

Summer is here, and although it's freezing cold, we're off to a great start!

Closing in on Summer

Tooth number 3 - gone!

Two adult teeth pushed out three baby teeth...uh oh - music to an orthodontist's ear!

Kenzo built a custom tooth box for under his pillow.

Safe and secure, thanks to Clutch Power!

A beautiful afternoon with friends at the Alpine Springs Pond...who knew there was an oasis like this here?!

It's funny to go here, when we have GIGANTIC LAKE TAHOE much closer, but this spot is amazing and oh-so kid friendly.

And the pond is not an ice bath!

A rare night out to celebrate Chris' 49th!

A typical after school session at Meeks!

This kid has the life...
We both dunked in the lake!

Brrrrrrrrrrr!!!

Worked up an appetite at the beach - yummy zaru soba dinner!

Memorial Day Weekend

Lots of stuff as we wrap up the month of May!

Kenzo was excited to share his new t-shirt and shark tooth necklace from Uncle Takemi's trip to Hawaii.

Getting better each ride on his new bike!

A quick visit with Baby Axel in South Shore.

We have reached a new level of Lego organization...

After school play date with Noah before a t-ball game.

These kids have the life!

I got to go on a few class field trips this week.

The Science Festival at the Truckee Airport was a hit!

Noah, Kenzo & Ebbett.

NOT our new "dog."

Mateo in the bubble station!
Then we drove to Loyalton to visit a working farm. The Loyalton High School students showed us everything from horses, to pigs, to cows, to worms!

Ryland, Bartek, Kenzo & Noah.
We had a great picnic lunch after the farm tour.

These kids have the life!!

A quick trip to Oakland for the long weekend was much needed!

Korean dinner...

Relaxing at our Airbnb spot in Montclair...

Dim sum breakfast...

Dim YUM!
Loving my Philz Coffee and the hot weather!
We kind of do the same things every time we're down there, but it's just nice to do nothing and be a tourist!

This was a us last year, same place!

We took a tour of the USS Pampanito, docked at Pier 45.

I had the audio tour iPod and it was so interesting listening to the different stories from the men aboard this sub during WWII.

Kenzo loved climbing through the small hatches between compartments.

Eric could barely fit!

There were a couple of submarine veteran docents on the ship that were answering questions.

Kenzo asked one man "were you scared on the submarine?"

I guess he got the vibe that it was a scary place to be at times.
We met up with Morgan, Gayle & Auntie Tami in Japantown for a delicious dinner at Takara!

Great to catch up with Morgan while she was home before heading back to Johns Hopkins for her summer internship.

Gayle, Auntie Tami & Eric.

Round two.
A quick stop to visit Uncle Takemi - he's been working every day!
Eric and his mini me.
