"Cute!"... I mean "Kawaii!"

The baby's room is just about done....too bad he won't be in there for a while! I know many of you thought "Julie (aka: Asian-Martha-Stewart-Wanna-Be) will have the cutest nursery, but I just couldn't go there with the 'theme' bedding, etc. The bright colors and the few Japanese touches were all I could muster. I mean, you've seen the rest of the house...very minimal and plain. Oh well, at least it's one more thing to cross off the list in our final two weeks before life-as-we-know-it changes. More personalization of the room to come, once HE arrives - and no decision on a name yet, so "Katsu Curry" will prevail for a little longer.

"That" look

Today I was given "that" look from several people, most of whom I do not know. That look is the look of "holy crap you are gigantic!" or "do we need to put a bucket underneath you right away?" It's the look you give to pregnant women who are trying to prove Mr. Newton wrong. It's the look I've given to women for years, but have never received. I will never give "that" look again and apologize for anyone I gave it to before today. I am huge, but since I've seen myself everyday, maybe I just don't notice it? Yeah, that's what I said when I finally joined Weight Watchers years ago. At least now I have a (better) excuse! I don't really even care that I'm as large as a house, (again, something I said before joining WW) but I do feel like a strange visitor in my own body. This is the perfect picture to describe me: huge and happy!

Even more parties?!

We had a fabulous gathering of old and new friends here on Sunday, August 8th for yet another baby shower - wow, you all are too much! It was overwhelming and emotional to have all the "girls" around...great food and laughs, who could ask for more? I took no photos, however, so this day is going into the vault for now. More presents for the dude, lots of great labor/delivery/parenting advice and stories, and just a wonderful day with the best friends a gal could ask for. For which a gal could ask. The first sounds more like me. Thank you, thank you, thank you - where would I be without each of you in my life?

Alvarez's in Tahoe

Kara, Henry, Naomi, and Maya stayed with us for an action-packed week after our family baby shower. We did everything from swimming at High Camp, to movie night at Common's Beach, to riding ponies (not Auntie Julie) at the Alpine Meadows stables. Naomi and Maya met lots of new "Tahoe" friends for their annual visits. See you guys next year!

More parties

Our friends, Jen & Derek Hagglof, hosted an amazing party for us on Sunday. Can't even begin to describe it all from the decor, layout, menu, and fun tasting games, to the gathering of wonderful friends, old and new. Oh yeah, Jen & Derek are professional caterers (and super cool people) so that kind of explains things!

Again, way too many generous gifts for our little dude! Lots of laughs and just the best party we could ever ask for. Thanks everyone for coming to celebrate with us.
